Worship, at its essence, is connecting our lives to God.
Worship is where we experience God’s presence, draw inspiration from the Bible, and express our love for God. At Old Mission, there are three different Sunday morning services, traditional services at 8:30 and 11, and a contemporary service at 9:45. But what our worship services all share in common is our important connection to the presence and power of God. Ruth Bell Graham says, “Worship is for the Christian what oxygen is to fire.”The traditional services feature the great hymns of the church and music from the pipe organ, piano, Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir (September to June), and soloists and instrumentalists. The contemporary service features a Worship Band leading the congregation in current Christian music. All three services have Scripture, prayers and music. Our Senior Pastor, Dr. Gardner (Mike) is our teaching pastor most Sundays and shares a Biblical message with humor and warmth which addresses life issues. He preaches from the pulpit at the 8:30 and 11:00 services, and uses a more informal style at the 9:45 service. On the first Sunday of the month we have Communion, and in the United Methodist tradition all are welcome. Periodically, we have Baptisms for infants, children or adults and other special seasonal events.Additional worship services are held throughout the year; during Lent (the period before Easter,) and Advent (the period before Christmas). At Old Mission we also have the opportunity to participate in worship services specifically geared for children and ones in which the youth lead the service.Worship at Old Mission is an inviting, warm experience. It is a place to maintain friendships and make new ones. Most of all it is a place to connect our lives to God. Won't you join us?
