The Old Mission Foundation offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors who meet the Foundation Scholarship Guidelines, outlined below. These scholarships exist due to the generosity of Old Mission member donations to the Foundation. There are additional scholarships available for Baker University students. Scholarship monies may be used only for tuition, books or supplies. Scholarship application and renewal forms can be found on our webiste. Under the Education tab, choose the Old Mission Foundation tab and click on Scholarship Forms. These forms may be submitted to the current Foundation Board Scholarship committee chair, Beth Thomas, at bthomas711@gmail.com
1. To apply, return the scholarship application with essay and transcript. Online submission is preferred.
2. To be considered for a scholarship the application form, essay and transcript must be received prior to the April 1 deadline. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
3. An official high school transcript is not required; a copy of the fall semester senior transcript should be submitted with the initial applications prior to the April 1 deadline, followed by submission of the final senior transcript prior to July 1.
4. Please note that a cumulative high school GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale is required.
5. Upon review of applications by the scholarship committee, e-mail invitations will be extended for interviews, usually in mid-April. Applicants may anticipate discussing current interests, achievements and future educational goals with the Foundation Board members.
6. After all applicant interviews are completed, the scholarship recipients will be notified, usually in early June. The scholarship dollar amount varies according to the Board's investment guidelines and is not determined by the Scholarship committee.
7. The Treasurer of the Foundation Board issues the scholarship checks, generally by mid to late August for fall semester and by mind to late January for spring semester.
8. Scholarship money may be renewed for a maximum of 8 semesters.
9. To recieve a scholarship renewal, you must maintain a cumulative GPA > 2.75 on a 4.0 scale each semester, and take 12 or more credit hours per semester.
10. If a scholarship recipient fails to meet renewal guidelines, reapplication is encouraged as soon as grades are brought back up to the minimum GPA of 2.75.
11. In mid-November and mid-March, the Foundation Scholarship committee will e-mail one reminder to each scholarship recipient to submit the renewal form with an unofficial semester transcript. Online submission is preferred.
12. It remains the sole responsibility of the scholarship recipient to submit the renewal application and transcript prior to the deadline, whether or not a reminder was recieved.
13. Scholarships will not be renewed if the renewal application and transcript are received after the deadline. The recipient may apply for a renewal the following semester per usual procedures.
14. It is the sole responsibility of the scholarship recipient to keep the Board updated on contact information changes, including e-mail address and cell phone numbers. please add the Scholarship committee e-mail address to prevent reminders from going to spam.
15. Each applicant will be asked to indicate an understanding and acceptance of the Old Mission Foundation Scholarship policies when signing the application form.
