When she’s not in the church office, receptionist/editor Elizabeth Adams is likely curled up with a good book. She loves reading; the printed page is her stage. In fact, teenage ambitions found her eager to be the first female agent in the FBI or a writer of mystery novels.
Today, Elizabeth pens Old Mission’s weekly newsletter, The Messenger, and prepares the church’s bulletins. You’re also likely hear her friendly voice on the line when you call Old Mission’s office. This 33-year member of the church has been on staff for more than a decade.
After living in Alabama and Illinois during her younger years, Elizabeth has called Kansas home for more than 45 years. But she’s also been “across the pond” a few times, spending time in England, Scotland, and Wales while her husband was stationed in Europe serving in the Air Force.
Elizabeth says her parents and grandparents have inspired her to be the woman she is today, and the people of Old Mission have helped her grow in faith.
“I love the people of Old Mission,” she says. “I felt called to serve when I applied for this job, and as long as I can be effective, I hope to continue ministering in my small way to keep things running smoothly and serving the needs of the congregation.”
You’ll find Elizabeth actively involved in various Bible study groups as well as Sunday School class, where she enjoys expanding her horizons. “God is faithful, and while my timetable is not always God’s, I know that everything will work out well in the end.”

I have three living daughters, one deceased; five grandsons in their twenties; three great-granddaughters ages 8 months to 2 1/2 years. I take care of my one-year-old great-granddaughter for a few hours every afternoon. My husband of 42 years passed away in 1991.
